"Not Enough"

Brenda Kumma - 0 comments

So often, we feel not enough. As women, as wives, as single women, as friends, as parents, and more. God meets us right where we are, gently whispering, "It's OK. You are my beloved child. I meet your weakness with My strength, and your struggle with My grace." The struggle is real. And so is His faithfulness.

Not enough.

How many times do we feel not enough?

We stretch. We bend.

We push ourselves beyond our limits.

And, we fall short.

Today, I'm feeling not enough.

I feel this deep soul weariness

that a nap won't cure.

I need to climb up into God's lap...

lay my head on His big shoulder...

feel His arms around me...

And when I say, "Lord, I'm trying SO hard and I'm not enough!"

as the tears roll down my cheeks, I need to hear Him say, "Shhhh...my beloved child...I know. It's OK. I AM."

2 Corinthians 12:9 - a verse I cling to - is both a gentle reminder and powerful promise.

"(God says), 'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.' (Paul responds,) So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so the power of Christ can work through me."

In "introverted mom," Jamie C. Martin writes, "If God's power works best in weakness, then it's better to have weaknesses! Better to be "not enough," because then He can work without me getting His way. Suddenly, I saw (2 Corinthians 12:9) as an equation that literally adds up to enough for those in my home:

God's Grace + My Weakness = ENOUGH

Even our biggest failures and shortcomings can be used by God, transformed via His miraculous alchemy into gold that enriches our families. It means we are free." Beautiful.

What if our "not enough" is an opportunity rather than a liability? If we were somehow enough, would we get to experience God's faithfulness, His love, His abundant grace? Would we lean into Him? Would we grow in our relationship with Him? Would we grow in humility, wisdom, and compassion for ourselves and others? God is such a good God, Who loves us so much, that He values relationship, redemption, and transformation above our comfort.

If you're soul weary like I am

If you're having a DAY like I am

If you're having a WEEK or a MONTH or a YEAR like I am

If you feel not enough, like I do

my dear friend - let's let's breathe, believe, and bring our weary souls to Him.

We aren't enough. He is.

We can't control things. He does.

We aren't perfect. He is.

He is LOVE, He is GRACE, He is more than ENOUGH.

He comforts our scrapes and our deep soul aches.

He meets our discouragement with empowerment.

He gently calls us to pause, lean in, look up, and let His love wash over us.

It's not about being perfect.

It's about being His.

What He calls us to, He equips us for.

Sometimes, what He calls us to is something impossible without Him.

Sometimes, what He calls us to is rest, refreshment, refueling.

His way - His abundant goodness overflows in us and through us to those around us.

His grace + His love + His wisdom + me = a soul overflowing

Not enough. More than enough.

That's an equation I can embrace.

God bless you, friends.
